Abby and Brittany Hensel, the famous conjoined twins who first won the world’s attention on The Oprah Winfrey Show nearly three decades ago, have now fuelled speculation that they’ve become mothers.

The sisters, both 35, were photographed in Arden Hills, Minnesota, carrying a newborn in a car seat before carefully strapping the infant into their Tesla. After making sure the child was secure, they sat at the back of the vehicle for a short breather before leaving the car park.

The sighting comes after months of whispers suggesting the pair were expecting their first baby. While the twins have chosen not to confirm whether the child is theirs, the rare glimpse into their private lives has reignited public fascination.

Abby married Army veteran Joshua Bowling in 2021, becoming stepmother to his daughter Isabella. At the time, she expressed hopes of expanding their family. Brittany, too, once said on their 2006 documentary Joined for Life: Abby and Brittany Turn 16: “We’re going to be moms. We just haven’t figured out how that’s going to work yet.”

The sisters share one torso with two heads and four arms, but only one pair of legs. Abby controls the right limbs while Brittany manages the left, meaning their daily lives demand perfect coordination. Despite the challenges, they’ve consistently lived with determination and independence — even obtaining two separate driving licences in 2012.

On their TikTok account, the twins recently shared a video of a molecular biologist explaining their anatomy: “Abby and Brittany each have two hearts, two brains and two spinal cords, but they share one circulatory system and one set of reproductive organs.”

Although conjoined twins are extremely rare, Abby and Brittany’s symmetry makes their case unique. Their journey from childhood stardom to adulthood — and now possibly motherhood — continues to captivate the world.
