A prominent politician representing one of NSW’s biggest regional communities has been forced to step back from public commitments in the wake of a “tragic family loss”.
NSW Nationals deputy leader Kevin Anderson announced the death of his wife Anna Anderson in a social media statement on Thursday evening.
“Due to an unforeseen and tragic family loss I will be cancelling all my commitments for the 2026 Tamworth Country Music Festival,” he said.
“I deeply appreciate the understanding and support my family and I have already received.
“Thank you for the love and care shown to our family at this time.”
Ms Anderson was a mother-of-three and local pharmacist of more than three decades, according to The Northern Daily Leader.

She reportedly died unexpectedly on Tuesday, though a cause of death has not been given.
News of Ms Anderson’s
“We first met Anna when she came to manage Tamworth Pharmacy.
“She was such a happy and friendly person and served her community with such generosity.”
Another said the loss of Ms Anderson would “resonate in so many directions”.
“Fond memories of her and sincere gratitude for the care she showed our family at our difficult times. Rest in peace now Anna,” they said.
